What’s Happening:

This Summer, DA Paul Howard shocked Americans when he charged an Atlanta police officer of murder.

The officer was being charged over the death of Rayshard Brooks, a man who was resisting arrest.

It appears many believe Howard’s charges were too great, considering the circumstances.

The people of Atlanta had a chance to weigh in and they spoke loud and clear:

Fani Willis declared victory Tuesday night in her bid for Fulton County District Attorney, soundly defeating her former boss, Paul Howard…

Howard, seeking his seventh term in office, conceded defeat shortly before 11 p.m…

Howard charged Atlanta police officer Garrett Rolfe, since fired, with 11 criminal counts, including felony murder, following the June 12 shooting of Rayshard Brooks.

The district attorney who charged Garrett Rolfe for the murder of Rayshard Brooks has lost his re-election bid to a newcomer.

Paul Howard conceded defeat after it was clear that Fani Willis clinched the election.

Howard drew strong criticism after charging officer Garrett Rolfe with 11 criminal counts following the shooting of Brooks.

Many believed Rolfe was justified in firing on Brooks, who resisted arrest and appeared to be threatening the lives of officers.

But this happened shortly after George Floyd’s death, as Black Lives Matter was staging protests around the nation.

The media appeared to portray the Brooks encounter in a similar light, ignoring the circumstances.

Rioters in the area destroyed a restaurant in “protest.”

So what did this district attorney do?

He appeared to overstep his bounds by throwing these 11 charges at Rolfe, especially the heavy charge of murder, even though the video was public for all to see.

In addition to this controversial decision, Howard had also been embroiled in various scandals.

Some have charged him with discrimination and sexual harassment.

It appears that the people of Atlanta and Fulton County were fed up with Howard’s leadership and have given him his walking papers.

Are you glad this District Attorney has been voted out of office?

Key Takeaways:

  • The DA who charged Garrett Rolfe for felony murder of Rayshard Brooks has lost re-election.
  • Paul Howard hit the officer with 11 criminal counts.
  • The former DA was also embroiled in several scandals.

New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell went on CNN to explain why she let her guard down and did not start putting in place measures to stop the spread of the coronavirus.
Cantrell, following in the footsteps of a long line of Dems who refuse to take responsibility for their actions, didn’t miss a beat and blamed Trump.
As it turns out, the evidence is starting to show that Mardi Gras helped spread the virus so Wolf Blitzer asked her why she made the decisions or lack of decisions that she did. (See Video Below.)
She said her city was given “no red flag” from Homeland Security, FBI or the CDC to cancel the Mardi Gras.
She then tried to say those agencies follow the “response of our national leader.”
Nice. Mardi Gras this year was Feb 25th. We had evidence this would get bad but we also probably didn’t have enough evidence to shut down the world-famous New Orleans Mardi Gras celebration.
Whoever made that call, whether it was her or Trump would have been crucified in the media.
She ought not blame Trump, just say the truth – we were all unprepared and now we will work together. Why is that so hard for the Democrats?
Transcript from Breitbart:
Anchor Wolf Blitzer said, “Experts say, Mayor, that the Mardi Gras celebrations at the end of February in New Orleans may have actually played a role in accelerating the spread of this virus. More than a million people came to your beautiful city at the time. We are showing some video of that right now. At the time, Mayor, did you have any guidance from health experts on the potential risk of coronavirus?”
Cantrell answered, “Well, you know that the city of New Orleans as it relates to Mardi Gras, we plan Mardi Gras as a year-long effort. Around a part of our unified command is the federal government. Homeland Security, as well as the FBI. So in reaching out, meaning my health directors and public safety officials, every step of the way consulted with federal partners as well as the CDC in reference to COVID-19.”
She continued, “The federal government did not issue any red flags and, therefore, we moved forward with federal agents being a part of our unified command on the ground. And with the first time the city of New Orleans for Mardi Gras, we’re at a rating that was an improvement given to us by the federal government. So every step of the way, the federal government has been partners with us with Mardi Gras. No red flags were given. So absolutely, we moved forward.”
Blitzer said, “Yeah, you certainly did. I’ll ask you the same question I asked your governor yesterday with hindsight. We are all obviously a lot smarter with hindsight. Do you think Mardi Gras could or should have been closed this year?”
Cantrell said, “Well, if red flags were given at the federal level, leadership matters. So while I was the first in the state of Louisiana to stop social gatherings, I had to cancel the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. All hell broke loose when I did that. It was necessary, giving the data, allowing science to lead us. It does matter. We rely on the facts to make decisions for the people that we serve. Given no red flags, we moved forward. In hindsight, if we were given clear direction, we would not have had Mardi Gras, and I would have been the leader to cancel.”
Blitzer said, “I know, I guess reports are within a week or two after Mardi Gras, all of a sudden the cases started emerging in Louisiana. Obviously, that’s very disturbing.”
He asked, “You are saying no one from the federal government came to you and urged you to at least can sell or postpone Mardi Gras?”

Cantrell responded, “That’s absolutely correct. And not only that, it was backed up with the response of our national leader. When it’s not taken seriously at the federal level, it’s very difficult to transcend down to the local level in making these decisions. But when the experts told me that social gatherings would be an issue, I moved forward with canceling them, as well as St. Patrick’s Day parade, as well as our Super Sunday, where our Mardi Gras Indian’s parade, the suits that they’ve made, all year long, so this is something that not only concerns us, but it sets the tone for how leadership matters at every level of government in the United States of America, where mayors on the front line.”

“Anything that they can use to try to hurt Trump, they will,” Don Trump Jr. said on Fox News this morning.
“Anything he does in a positive sense…like we heard from the reporter that was just suspended from ABC, they will not give him credit for.”
“I don’t know if this is coronavirus or Trump Derangement Syndrome, but these people are infected badly,” Trump Jr. said.
“For them to try to take a pandemic and seemingly hope that it comes here and kills millions of people so that they can end Donald Trump’s streak of winning is a new level of sickness,” added.
“To run that in The New York Times, this isn’t Vox, this isn’t one of those left-wing journals…this is The New York Times writing this with seriousness, it’s truly sick,” he said about the NYT piece calling this the “Trumpvirus.”
“Now those same Democrats last week, when my father shut down travel to and from China, were saying it’s an overreaction, it’s a disaster, ‘you’re being xenophobic.’ Now, they’re flipping that.”
Appearing on MSNBC right after, Rep. John Garamendi (D-CA) whose district has the first case of community transmission hit back and threatened “serious altercation” against Trump Jr. if he repeated those remarks around him.
“He should not be near me when he says that,” the congressman said.
Why not?” the MSNBC host asked.
“There would be a serious altercation,” the California Democrat said.
“That is just totally outrageous. I can assure you that there’s not a Democrat or Republican in Congress that wants anybody to be sick.”

CNN airs nearly round-the-cloud negative coverage of President Donald Trump and his administration. Thankfully, unlike many other Republicans, the president doesn’t take it sitting down; when Trump is punched, he punches back twice as hard.
Today as he was on his way to Marine One, the president spoke with reporters. He took a number of questions on a wide range of topics and gave short answers. When he was asked by a snippy CNN reporter about his conversations with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, Trump’s response was pure gold.
Sarah Westwood, a CNN reporter, asked whether Trump will ask Putin “not to meddle in the 2020 election during their meeting.”
Trump responded, “I’ll have a very good conversation with him. What I say to him is none of your business.”

Over the last several years, CNN’s ratings have plummeted while Fox News’ and MSNBC’s ratings have gone up. Prior to the Trump Administration, CNN tended to aim for coverage that was middle-of-the-road but has become increasingly left-leaning during the Trump era. The network’s White House Correspondent, Jim Acosta, has attempted to make himself famous by catching the president in “gotcha” moments, making his anti-Trump bias clear.
Many Trump supporters wish that the president would ban the network from the White House altogether.
Earlier this month, Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced that she is stepping down from her role as White House Press Secretary. Stephanie Grisham, the Chief of Staff for First Lady Melania Trump, will be taking over the role. Sanders had the unique ability to be friendly but tough with the media–especially journalists from CNN. One can only hope that Grisham will have the same skill.
